The Greater Ozarks Blues Festival will be held in Springfield, Missouri on September 7 & 8, 2012 at Chesterfield Village, just north of the James River Expressway at Highway 13. Come and enjoy two days of musical fun for your entire family. The festival is produced by the Blues Society of the Ozarks. It's the area's original Blues festival and has provided a weekend of top-notch Blues entertainment to the Springfield Missouri community once a year since 1996. This all-volunteer annual event raises money for the Blues Society Of The Ozarks, a not-for-profit organization so your support goes to a great cause, keeping the Blues alive. What To Bring - Of course, bring your entire family, this is an all ages concert. The Greater Ozarks Blues Festival is an outdoor event. Bring your lawn chairs for seating. You may want to bring rain gear and blankets if the weather doesn't fully cooperate. No tents please - a hospitality tent will be provided so you can take a break from the sun if needed. No coolers, please. Plenty of cold drinks and food will be available at the festival. There are also restaurants nearby the festival site.

The Blues Society Of The Ozarks (BSO) was formed to keep Blues music alive in our community through various missions, including their Blues In The School Program which helps our area's children learn about and even how to play this important original American art form. The BSO helps promote the area Blues musicians through musical events and picnic jams. Each year the Blues Society Of The Ozarks sponsor a blues band and a solo/duo act to compete in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee.

Each year, The Blues Foundation presents the Keeping the Blues Alive (KBA) Awards to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the Blues world. In 2007, The Blues Society Of The Ozarks was awarded the Keeping the Blues Alive Award in the Organization category. The KBAs are awarded to non-performers unlike the Blues Music Awards, an award recognizing the past year's best in recordings and performance.

All this would not be possible without your support at events such as this. The Greater Ozarks Blues Festival is the biggest money-raising event of the year for the Society. Help keep the Blues alive in the Ozarks and enjoy a weekend of outstanding music.

Of course, the Greater Ozarks Blues Festival wouldn't be possible without the help of some of our awesome Sponsors. Please support these businesses

This year's lineup features Blues Music Award nominees and winners, the International Blues Challenge winner, our local Blues Challenge winner and some of the region's favorite blues bands. Between the performances on the Main Stage, some of the Springfield area's finest blues bands will perform on our Blues Bash Stage. In conjunction with Nathan P. Murphy's, the Blues Society of the Ozarks conducted a Battle of the Bands, and the bands that competed will be featured on our second stage between the headliner acts to give everyone a non-stop musical experience.
